WORKSHOP ON THE ANALYTICAL AND COMPUTATIONAL METHODS FOR
            CONVECTION-DOMINATED AND SINGULAR PERTURBED PROBLEMS
              UNIVERSITY OF ROUSSE,BULGARIA,AUGUST 27-31,1998     


             FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT


       An international   Workshop'98  on the Analytical and
       Computational Methods for Convection-Dominated and Singularly
       Perturbed Problems will be held near the sea in  Bulgaria
       ,Lozenetz, 430 km from Sofia and 330 km from Istanbul , August
       27-31, 1998

       The scope of the Workshop is concerned with issues of
       development, validation and practical usage of numerical and 
       analytical methods for singular perturbation problems arising
       in science and engineering (in particular, for
       convection-dominated flows at high Reynolds number).


       Basic Topics:  


       (1) Analytic and asymptotic methods for continuous problems: 
       Linear and nonlinear equations. 

       (2) Theoretical analysis of numerical methods

       (3) Computational experiences. Numerical experiments for linear
       problems in two or three dimensions, and nonlinear in
       one-dimension or higher.

       (4) Iterative methods, parallel algorithms. 

       (4) Applications in mechanics, engineering, biology, chemical
       kinetics, environmental sciences etc.

       The scientific programme will include invited lectures (45 min)
       and contributed talks (20 or 30 min). We expect a
       course(circle) of lectures "An Introduction to Numerical
       Methods for Singular Perturbation Problems" to be presented by
       Prof. J.J.Miller.

       Accommodation and food expenses will be very economical. It is
       expected that the cost with the conference discount will be
       about 8 US dollars for accommodation and an additional 8 US
       dollars for food per day.

       The number of participants is nonlimited. Limited funds will be
       available for additional support for some of the participants.

       The official language of the workshop is English.The
       contributions should present original research which has not be
       published previously.The papers should be prepared in plain
       LATEX(in ASCI format,up to 12 pages for the Key Lecturers ,and
       up to 8 pages for the other participants).

       Deadline for submission of the abstract and papers is April
       30,1998 and July 30,1998 respectively.       


       The workshop fee  is 150 US dollars. It covers a volume of
       abstracts, a volume of proceedings, reception, official dinner
       and cultural programme.
