CALL FOR PAPERS PPAM'99 THIRD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PARALLEL PROCESSING AND APPLIED MATHEMATICS Kazimierz Dolny, Poland September 5-7, 1999 ABOUT THE CONFERENCE Parallel and distributed processing is a domain of strategic importance for the information technology sector. Rapid advances in VLSI technology, computer/network architectures and software tools provide a very interesting background for experimenting with new complex applications and exploring different design alternatives. The format of the Third International Conference on Parallel Processing and Applied Mathematics (PPAM'99) will follow the pattern set by its successful predecessors, the PPAM'94 and PPAM'97 conferences, which were held in Czestochowa and Zakopane, respectively. PPAM'99 is dedicated to a broad variety of subject areas within parallel and distributed processing, including theory and applications. The Conference is also intended as an open forum in the field of applied mathematics. An important goal of PPAM'99 is to foster communication and cooperation between communities studying problems in this field and communities involved in parallel/ distributed computation. PPAM'99 will take place in Kazimierz Dolny, an unique small town on the Vistula river, situated near the route from Warsaw to Lublin, famous for its architecture, setting, history and unforgettable atmosphere. The beginning of September is one of the best periods for visiting this region. Like its predecessors, PPAM'99 is organized by the Institute of Mathematics of Computer Science at the Technical University of Czestochowa. TOPICS OF INTEREST Topics of interest include (but are not limited) to: - Models of parallel/distributed computation - Parallel/Distributed architectures - Parallel/Distributed algorithms - Parallelization and mapping techniques - Object-oriented methods in parallel/distributed computing - Software tools and environments for parallel/distributed processing - Metacomputing - Numerical methods - Neural networks and genetic algorithms - Mathematical and computer methods in mechanics, material processing, biology and medicine, physics, chemistry, business, enviromental modelling, etc. - Numerical and non-numerical applications of parallel/distributed processing PROGRAM COMMITTEE Peter Arbenz Institute for Scientific Computing, Switzerland Peter Brezany University of Vienna, Austria Jerzy Brzezinski Poznan University of Technology, Poland Marian Bubak University of Mining & Metallurgy, Krakow, Poland Maurice Clint Queens University Belfast, UK Jose Cunha University Nova of Lisbon, Portugal Zbigniew Czech Silesia University of Technology, Gliwice, Poland Giuseppe De Pietro IRSIP CNR, Naples, Italy Ladislav Hluchy Institute of Computer Systems, Bratislava, Slovakia Andrzej Janicki Institute of Mathematical Machines, Warsaw, Poland Andrzej Jordan Technical University of Bialystok, Poland Peter Kacsuk Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest, Hungary Jerzy Kaniewski Technical University of Koszalin, Poland Julia Kapitonowa Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, Kiev, Ukraine Jacek Kitowski University of Mining & Metallurgy, Krakow, Poland Jozef Korbicz Technical University of Zielona Gora, Poland Henryk Krawczyk Technical University of Gdansk, Poland Jan Kwiatkowski Technical University of Wroclaw, Poland V. Zima University of Vienna, Austria SUBMISSION OF PAPERS Original papers are invited for the conference. Authors should submit three copies of a full paper (draft version) to the conference office before March 31, 1999. Manuscripts are not to exceed 15 pages (12-point font, double spaced) in length. The manuscript should be organized in the usual scientific format including an abstract, references to previous work and state of the art in the field, aim of the work, methodology used, results obtained and references. Alternatively, papers may be submitted in electronic form (encoded Postscript file) by mailing them to ppam@matinf.pcz.czest.pl . All papers must be written in English. All sumbissions must be accompanied by a cover page containing title, authors's name and affiliation, mail and e-mail addresses, telephone and fax numbers, a 100-word abstract and up to five keywords. If the paper is submitted electronically, the cover page in the form of an ascii-only e-mail must contain the same information. In case of multiple authors, one of them should be identified as a contact person. The following statement should be included in the submission: If accepted, the paper will be made available in camera-ready form in time for inclusion in the proceedings, and will be personally presented at the conference by the author or one of the co-authors. Papers will be refereed by an international committee and accepted on the basis of their scientific merit and relevance to the conference topics. Acceptance will be notified by May 20, 1999. Cammera-ready copies of accepted papers will be required by June 30, 1999. The author's guide for preparing camera-ready papers in LaTeX will be available on the WWW at www.k2.pcz.czest.pl. Alternatively, to receive the guide, please mail a mesage to ppam@matinf.pcz.czest.pl . Accepted papers will be published in the Proceedings distributed at the conference. SPECIAL SESSIONS Sessions on special topics proposed by delegates will be welcome. Please send suggestions to the program chairman before the closing date for submissions.
