		  Cetraro,  Italy  -  June 22 - 24,   1998.
		  ========================================

MAIN AIM
========
High Performance Computing (HPC) is a key Information Technology
attracting a great deal of attention in USA, Japan and Europe as a
fundamental tool for scientific research, industrial production and
business decision making.
Significant amounts of energy and financial resources are invested by
governments and private sectors for building adequate infrastructures
and human skills to enable the expected benefits.
The current HPC computer architectures and software are in evolution;
their applications to real world problems are starting to emerge but
are still scientifically unexplored and unclear to many potential be-
neficiaries. It is interesting to observe that a very dynamic growth
of HPC is recently taking place in business applications.
We may be witnessing an important phenomenon of the scientific and
business HPC convergence.
The aim of the Workshop is to contribute to assess the current and
future developments in the HPC architecture and software technologies,
and to discuss promising applications of HPC to new problems of science,
industry and business.
The HPC Advanced Workshops in Cetraro have been well established and
two of them (1992 and 1996) were sponsored by NATO.

WORKSHOP TOPICS
===============

General Issues in High Performance Computing
Emerging Computer Architectures and Their Performance
Software for HPC

 PARTICIPATION
=============
Individuals interested to attend the Workshop should apply not
later than March 31, 1998. Since the number of participants will
be limited, an early application is recommended.

==================

NO REGISTRATION FEES ARE REQUIRED FOR PARTICIPANTS OF THE WORKSHOP.
This policy encourages wide Workshop participation,in order to increase
awareness of the scientific aspects and practical benefits of HPC tech-
nology, to facilitate professional relations and to create technology
transfer opportunities.
