               The 7'Th International Conference on
High Performance Computing and Networking Europe.

                        April 12 - 14, 1999

                    Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Deadline for paper submission : December 1, 1998.

It is with much pleasure that we announce the seventh edition of the
highly successful High Performance Computing and Networking Europe event.
Like previous years, HPCN Europe '99 will combine focussed workshops and
a scientific conference, covering the field of HPCN from (industrial)
end-user applications to new scientific results in computational science
and computer science. With this call we invite you to submit
a paper for the conference, to propose a workshop, and to participate in
the event.

                         Submission of Papers
                         --------------------

The conference has three complementary themes

a. (Industrial) End-user Applications of HPCN
      - e.g. WEB applications, Medical applications, data mining,
automotive and aerospace, chemical, climate modelling, etc.
b. Computational Science
      - e.g. new numerical and non-numerical techniques for
parallelization, metacomputing, load balancing, problem solving
environments, etc.
c. Computer Science research in HPCN
      - e.g. tools, runtime support, compiler technology, programming
        environments, architecture simulations, etc.

Authors are invited to submit a paper containing new and original
results with respect to these themes. You may either submit a full paper
(6 to 10 pages A4) for an oral presentation, or a short paper (2 to 3 pages
A4) for a poster presentation. Your paper will be reviewed, and after
acceptance, appear in the conference proceedings that will be published
in the series Lecture Notes in Computer Science. The best papers of the
conference will be published in a special issue of Future Generation
Computer Systems (www.elsevier.nl/locate/future).

Your paper must be camera ready and formatted according to the rules
of LNCS (see www.springer.de/comp/lncs/Authors.html). Include
a separate first page which lists the name and mailing address of
each author, which clearly specifies the presenting author, and which
indicates the personal e-mail address of the corresponding
author. A postscript version of your paper must be mailed to
hpcn99submit@wins.uva.nl (please consult our web site for all details,
www.wins.uva.nl/events/HPCN99/).

                             Workshops
                             ---------

Together with the conference, the HPCN Europe '99 event hosts a number
of thematic workshops. The following workshops are scheduled.

  - Virtual Reality

  - Distributed Computing

  - Traffic Simulation

  - Java in HPC

  - Telemedical Society

  - European Technology Transfer

  - Enabling Technology, Hard- and Software

HPCN Europe '99 can still provide some room for workshops. If you want
to organise a thematic workshop that is of relevance to the HPCN community,
we invite you to submit a short proposal to the program secretariat
(hpcn99@wins.uva.nl). The proposal should contain the title and a short
description of the workshop, and a tentative list of speakers. A
workshop is typically a 1 day event.
