Andrzej Hlawiczka +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ CALL for PAPERS DDECS'98 Design and Diagnostics of Electronic Circuits and Systems Workshop Szczyrk (Hotel Zagron), Poland September 2-4, 1998 DDECS workshop is an annual event organized by Central European countries; in 1998 it will be held in Poland. The DDECS'98 is organized by the Silesian Technical University, Gliwice, in cooperation with the Silesian University, Katowice, and VSB, Ostrava. It is supported by the Polish Society for Dependable Systems and the Computer Chapter of the Poland Section of the IEEE. Background and Aim of the Workshop: The first international DDECS workshop was held in the Czech Republic in 1997. The Czech universities' traditional links with Polish institutions - especially with universities in Silesia, Poland - suggest that the DDECS, before it develops into an event of truly international importance, should be organized by Central European countries. Therefore, in 1998 it will be held in Poland and in 1999 in Slovakia. The DDECS Workshop has been conceived as a forum for presenting and discussing trends and hot topics in the area of electronic circuit and system design and diagnostics. These two areas are obviously closely related and covering them jointly brings a big potential for mutual stimulation. The workshop is intended to give researchers, in particular young investigators coming from both academia and industry, a chance to present their results and discuss trends and needs of electronic, telecommunication and computer industry in the areas related to design and diagnostics. This would have a very positive effect both on the academic life and industrial development in Central and Eastern Europe. Areas of interest: The proposed workshop topics include, but are not limited to: - architecture and logic level synthesis - hardware/software codesign - ASIC design, - design of embedded systems, - design of analog and mixed analog/digital systems, - component, board and system testing, - defect analysis, fault modeling and simulation, test pattern generation, - design and synthesis for testability, built-in self-test (BIST), - mixed-signal and analog testing, - test quality and test economics, - on-line testing and fault-tolerant systems. Submission of papers: Send 5 copies of a camera-ready manuscript of no more than 7 pages by April 27, 1998. Electronic submissions (in PostScript format) will also be considered. Guidelines for the authors can be found at alfa.iele.polsl.gliwice.pl/DDECS-98 Mail your submission to: Andrzej Krasniewski Institute of Telecommunications Fax: +48 22 254950 Warsaw University of Technology Nowowiejska 15/19, 00-665 Warsaw, POLAND Phone: +48 22 660-7537 or +48 22 251580 Fax: +48 22 254950 E-mail: andrzej@tele.pw.edu.pl or A.Krasniewski@elka.pw.edu.pl Accepted papers will be included in the Workshop Proceedings. Location: Szczyrk is a small village located in Silesian Beskid Mountains. It is, besides Zakopane, the most famous center of ski sports in Poland. Numerous ski routes, tourist paths and bicycle routes and the chair-lift to the top of Skrzyczne (1257 m) are major attractions. Hotel Zagron is located on the slope of Klimczok mountain. Spacious rooms with terraces, a sports center (indoor swimming pool, fitness center, sauna, billiard), a restaurant and cafe bar make it a nice place to stay. Special event: A one-day excursion to Cracow, former capital of Poland, included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list, can be organized for the interested participants before or after the Workshop.
