According to eight year tradition of European Workshop on Dependable
Computing (EWDC), the Technical University of Gdansk will organise
the EWDC-9. The proposed title and subjects of the workshop are
as follows:
________________________________________________________________________

                    TESTING METHODS AND TOOLS FOR
                  MODERN COMPUTER SYSTEMS & NETWORKS
________________________________________________________________________

Testing, along with verification and validation, constitutes a rigorous
framework for engineering process aimed at assuring quality of services
or products. This framework requires a well-planned utilisation of
specific standards and practices implemented by all participants through
the system development and maintenance life cycle. This workshop is
intended to bring together researchers and practitioners from university
and industry to review existing and new testing approaches and to
evaluate their suitability for developing computer systems, networks and
their applications. Different levels of considerations, from hardware or
software through simple embedded microprocessor systems up to large
network applications, can be recommended. Hence, the proposed topics
include, but are not restricted to:

- fault models for different system levels
- fault detection and identification procedures
- analysis and testing of critical applications
- preventive maintenance strategies
- testing and simulation
- test standards
- tools for testing and test design
- design for testability
- system - level fault diagnosis
- recovery and replication techniques
- acceptance and conformance testing
- recovery techniques
- reconfiguration strategies
- testing and monitoring
- quality assessment and assurance

In particular, contributions dealing with parallel or distributed systems
and network applications are strongly encouraged. We hope that some new
ideas of international projects will be proposed for integrating
academia and industry.
