It is with much pleasure that we announce the 8th event of the highly
successful International Conference on High Performance Computing and
Networking Europe.

Similar to the previous years, HPCN Europe 2000 will consist of focussed
workshops and a scientific Conference, covering the field of HPCN from the
(industrial) end-user applications to new scientific results in
computational science and computer science. This year however, the scope
of the conference is further expanded with an additional theme to emphasize
the information management aspects, and the importance of the web-based
cooperative application infrastructures. With this call we invite you to
submit a paper for the Conference and to participate in this event.

If you are interested in organizing a workshop in the framework of HPCN
Europe 2000, please send a proposal for the workshop before October 22,
1999, to the event chair at: hpcn2ksubmit@wins.uva.nl (please consult our
web site for all details, www.wins.uva.nl/events/HPCN2k/).

                       final camera ready version
   10-12 May 2000 - HPCN Europe 2000 event

Submission of Papers
====================
The Conference consists of the following four themes:

A) Web-based Cooperative Applications
Including distributed/federated information and knowledge management,
information brokerage, virtual enterprises, clearing houses,
electronic business, cooperation coordination, tele-work, etc.

B) Industrial and end-user Applications of HPCN
Including the WEB applications, Medical applications, data mining,
automotive and aerospace, chemical, climate modeling, distributed
   manufacturing, virtual reality, etc.

C) Computational Science
Including new numerical and non-numerical techniques for
parallelization, metacomputing, load balancing, problem solving
   environments, etc.

D) Computer Science research in HPCN
Including tools runtime support, compiler technology, programming
   environments, architecture simulations, etc.

Authors are invited to submit their papers containing new and
original results related to the above mentioned subjects.

You may submit:
- a full paper (6 to 10 pages A4) for an oral presentation,
- or a short paper (2 to 4 pages A4) for a poster presentation.

Your paper will be reviewed taking into account:
- relevance to HPCN 2000,
- significance of results,
- originality,
- technical accuracy, and
- readability.

After acceptance the papers will be published in the HPCN 2000
proceedings in the Springer Verlag series Lecture Notes in Computer
Science. The best papers of the conference will also be published
in a special issue of the Future Generation Computer
Systems (www.elsevier.nl/locate/future).

Your paper must be camera ready and formatted according to the rules of
the LNCS (see www.springer.de/comp/lncs/Authors.html).
Please include a separate first page which lists the name and mailing
address of each author, clearly specifies the author who will present the
paper, and which indicates the personal e-mail address of the
corresponding author. A postscript version of your paper must be
electronically submitted to the HPCN 2000 Secretariat, at:
hpcn2ksubmit@wins.uva.nl (please consult our web site for all details,
www.wins.uva.nl/events/HPCN2k/).
